  1. Hi Rob,

Thank you for posting all of these useful tips. They have been incredibly helpful, and I’ve applied much of what you suggested to my own book that I’m writing. Your first novel, Because of Mr. Terupt, is by far a favorite read aloud year after year that I’ve introduced to my classes. The kids love the story and multiple view points. I teach fifth grade, and after sharing countless read alouds and learning about your background, you inspired me to go forward in writing my own novel. I’ve been reading it to my class (it’s based on events in my own life that I’ve shared with them), and they’ve been good critics so far. I’m only about halfway done, but I would love to learn about the process you followed for publishing your novels.

P.S., fellow Syracuse native here. Go SU!

    Thanks,

    Jon

    • Hi Jon,

I have been off my blog for a few months. Thanks for sharing this story. I love to hear how Mr. Terupt is inspiring students and adults. The writing process is challenging…persevere, it is worth it!
